Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic

Anybody can hurt them self doing ordinary things, like digging the garden, lifting groceries or doing recreational activities, or maybe you are an athlete suffering from an injury. Whether the treatment is simply rest and relaxation from your day or is more specific, Elite Fitness Studios will be able to help you.

Injuries come in many forms and can affect any part of the body. Some are mild sprains or strains to areas such as ankles and thighs, or you may have a more serious injury such as a recurring back problem. With our consultation process we can find the cause, treat the injury, optimise recovery and provide advice on how to minimise the risk of recurrence.

Our personal attention also includes advice on nutrition, posture and new methods and ideas of treatment and training for you. The more information you give us, the better equipped we are to help you.

Common causes of sports injuries include overuse, direct impact or the application of force that is greater than the body part can structurally withstand. A recent injury that has occurred as a direct result of a sudden event, such as sprained knee ligaments caused by twisting awkwardly, is known as an acute injury. In contrast, an injury that is longer standing and possibly caused by overusing the same muscle group or joints is known as a chronic injury.

Whether your injury is acute or chronic, if pain persists, you should seek a specialist's opinion because you may be hurt more severely than you think.

Poor fitness and poor technique also contribute to the development of sports injuries. Prevention being better than cure, we encourage screening for physiological weaknesses that may lead to injury, and help you work with our physiotherapist and personal trainers to eliminate them.

There are many different types of sports injuries, but certain body parts are more prone to damage than others. Some of the more common sports injuries include:

    • Ankle Sprain
    • Back Pain
    • Concussion
    • Cuts and Abrasions
    • Stress Fracture
    • Knee Joint Injury
    • Achilles/patella Tendonitis
    • Shin Splints
    • Runner's Knee
    • Hamstring/Groin Strain
    • Tennis/Golfers Elbow
    • Shoulder Injury
